Past, Present & Passions

Previous Engagements

UX Designer / Microsoft – Azure Data  2015-Present

As a part of the Azure Data UX team, I have been primarily involved in the ideation and production of interfaces for managing services on the Azure framework. Products have ranged from big data analytics infrastructure management to a variety of internal-facing and confidential projects.

Senior UX Designer / Wizards of the Coast  2012-2015

With capacities ranging from UX consultation to project strategy, my primary objective is site visitor retention through compelling user experiences. I have served as the key internal UX authority for redesigns of the Magic: The Gathering, Wizards Play Network & Community Sites, seeing each of these through their transition to a new platform, Drupal. I assisted in bug priority determination and direct vendor direction. The Magic site alone sees millions of visitors each month, and the update ignites a new cycle of continuous iteration and improvements.
supervisor: MATT MURRAY

Art Director / Carpool Agency 2011-2012

From initial discussions to ideation, and throughout the production phase, I insured a consistent user experience. My responsibilities covered the gamut of consultant, art director & production designer as necessary. I completed regular quality reviews with the development team prior to final site launches. The work was primarily digital, with the occasional print piece or advertising campaign. While in this role, I helped our team achieve a look on the sharepoint platform that has been historically uncommon at Microsoft.

A wide variety of web, print, motion, market-targeted work created under the supervision of a great mentor. Range includes general advertising collateral, web advertising, packaging, signage and other work as required by assorted campaigns and clients.

Jared Davis creates sophisticated UI and UX material at every step of the process and every day. He is a pleasure to collaborate with and design with – He is mild mannered in persona and persistent when it comes to best practices.

Tom Jenkot - Manager, Digital Visual Design | Web Publishing | Wizards of the Coast

Jared knows how to blend user experience with design. He helped innovate on many design concepts and products. I enjoyed working with Jared he is a great listener and can collaborate on concepts during meetings.

Jon Collette - Lead Software Developer at Carpool Agency

Jared is insightful and deliberate in his craft. His attention to details and love for the language of design allows him to create compelling experiences that make users smarter. I really enjoyed working with Jared and wish that he didn't have to leave Carpool.

Jarom Reid - Social Communications Designer

Jared has an amazing ability to interact with clients and to execute on their vision in a way that leaves a lasting impression.

Wesley Mitchell - Founder / Technomancer at AtomOrbit

Jared was a tremendous asset to our organization as one of our lead designers. I learned very quickly, that a great designer has to have much more than artistic talent and creativity. Jared's creativity and design talent were top notch, but it was his 'no obstacle' approach to being innovative, especially when dealing with multiple sources of feedback that made him especially valuable to our team.

Derek Fay - Managing Director, Student Activities

Jared was an excellent student here. His work was always well conceived and well designed. He has an excellent work ethic and is very dependable. It is a pleasure to recommend him.

Kelly Burgener - Associate Academic Vice-President for Instruction at BYU - Idaho

I appreciated Jared's time with us as a student employee. His dependability and work ethic became assets that we depended on.

Brian Memmott - Faculty Member in the Department of Art at BYU - Idaho

I have known Jared and his family for several years. I worked with him when he was a survey technician at USBR. Jared's work performance was excellent, he quickly learned the complex math needed to perform surveys and maintain high accuracy. He worked with no or minimal supervision most days, scheduling his time to survey complex gov. land boundaries. His intelligence and his work ethic would serve any company well.

Gary Young - Retired from GIS Specialist at US Bureau of Reclamation
